2006 2.2L Cobalt Owners READ! |

For some odd reason, GM decided to make things difficult again and throw a curveball at us. Some late production '06 Cobalt LT models (2.2L) were equipped with something called SAI (Secondary Air Injection). This was intended to add fresh air to the exhaust manifold to help burn off unused gases from the engine before entering the catalytic converter.
What this did was make it really difficult and confusing for 2.2L owners to add an aftermarket air intake. Also, there are no aftermarket headers that can be installed in these cars as well. Currently, K&N is the only aftermarket intake that will fit the models with the SAI. Even the GMPP intake does not have the SAI hookup for these models.

The #1 power killer for the 2.0 Cobalt Supercharged is heat. The Eaton M62 Blower is a big heat generator under high boost. Smaller than stock pulleys spin the blower at higher rpms generating more heat.
As you all know heat robs power. So just slapping small pulleys on is not the answer. Before you think about smaller pulleys you might want to think about some cooling modifications.
